I wanted to try using color pencils or watercolors today, so I drew something in an old sketch book... I forgot why I never drew anything worthwhile in those sketchbooks. The paper quality is garbage. Every time I put an eraser to it, the eraser would become coated with a thin layer of paper fibers, and then when it came to ink, the ink spread out like putting a marker to a wet canvas.

I knew there was a reason why I was absolutely in love with vellum paper (at one point) but I didn't want to use paper drawing something I wasn't going to keep... although it turned out pretty okay... heh.

Drawing these two together in suggestive scenes is pretty fun

sketch progress: 0.5mm H lead mechanical pencil and eraser
inking: black sharpies and black ink applied with a custom sharpened spoon nib
on a: cheap 9"x12" COMO sketchpad.
color: all photoshop

I've never tried vellum paper -- but i know the feeling of having a shitty sketchbook very intimately.

It's a smooth, toothless, medium weight paper meant for works with many details such as architectural drafting.
